Place and date of the session

The Sixth WMO International Workshop on Tropical Cyclones (IWTC-VI) will be held in San José, Costa Rica, from 21 to 30 November 2006. The venue for the workshop will be:

The hotel is located 5 miles from the Juan Santamaria International Airport toward San Jose downtown.

Working languages

The working language of the workshop will be in English only.

Documentation

The pre-session workshop documents will be in English and will be distributed to participants before the workshop proper.

Flight Information

Costa Rica, a country in Central America, is easily reached by regular flights from American cities such as Toronto, Miami, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, as well as European cities including Madrid, Barcelona and Frankfort. Hotel accomodation

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Ramada Plaza Herradura Hotel on behalf of the IWTC-VI participants. The room rates, including breakfast, lunch, taxes and tips (maid and bellboy) are:

Single room: US $120.00     Double room: US $144.50

Participants who will be provided with financial support by WMO should stay at the Ramada Plaza Herradura Hotel. Reservations and subsequent payments to the said hotel for the WMO sponsored participants will be made by WMO.

A hotel reservation form should be completed and sent to WMO with a copy to the Local Secretariat no later than 15 September 2006. The hotel reservation form is available at http://severe.worldweather.org/iwtc/hotelReservForm.pdf.

Currency

The currency used is the Colon. Its parity with the US Dollar is approximately 510 Colones.

Transportation from and to the airport

The Hotel provides free transportation to and from the International Airport according to the following schedule; participants are required to send their arrival dates and flight numbers on the hotel reservation form to the Local Secretariat:
